big smush by nicktheartisticfreak big smush by nicktheartisticfreak
black ballpoint and white gelpen on earthbound paper. adjusted colors in photoshop.
this drawing sat for a long time as a half inked sketch. there is hope for unfinished work after all! :D

the automaton developped a sudden dislike for his photographer.

Fantastic work. I'm always very impressed by artists who can draw lifelike characters AND the more technical stuff. You can do both, and here, you prove that you can even do both at the same time. Plus it's funny.

well, i try. :D trick is, you need to draw rigid technical stuff in a similar fashion to organic forms. otherwise you need a reference.

That's easy for you to say. When I try drawing rigid technical stuff in a similar fashion to organic forms, all I end up with is a mess! :D

hmm, does the mess look cool? technical stuff can look good as a mess sometimes. i just finished drawing a weird organic car thing. it's closer to how i like drawing mechanical things. i'll be posting it soon.
