Btw, I *don't* think this needs a more detailed background. I see the yellow as some sort of lamp or light in front of which an air-battle rages.

i can kind of agree,
it needs a windshield in the background
one thing i've always admired about your stuff is the awesome backgrounds - even when they're totally plain. however, in this case i was rather disappointed. not that i don't really love that colour, or love it with black and white - but it just doesn't go for me.
just my half cent's worth.
