for a 30min sketch, i'm pretty happy with it. it was done on a whim, on a small piece of cardboard. :evillaugh: corrugated cardboard!!!

This is so awesome! I set this as my desktop background!
Everyone says that looks like me: dark crazy hair, long legs and arms, and skinny. And always rocking out! Awesome pic, especially for a sketch

corrugated cardboard!!! and I was whining about drawing around the spiral, that's way more harcore!! hehe

That's really cool. The pose is ultra dynamic, which was, I guess, the whole point. The cardboard and the small white highlights really add a lot of character to the piece.

What was the red done with dude?? What kind of card, its' got a strange texture? Or rather what box did you use?

i cheated with the red a little. i used a blur layer and some color enhancing tricks in photoshop. but in person it looks pretty much the same. i used a red and white china marker and some water based ink to fill it out. the board was used as packing material. it is standard corrugated card board, about 4x6 inch.

thanks! :D

I'm a keen advocate of the gool old cardboard, I live in London and man there is shite loads of it everywhere. Like canvases a plenty!

This really rocks, if you know what I mean [insert eyebrow movement here] I can't say anything in depth about this picture right now, because I can't think of anything. I like the way I can also consentrate on the tiniest of details like little tiny pieces of stuff flying off his sneakers(you tell me, what they are and I shall call them so [cows for excample]).

I think he is two pieces glued together - I mean, that from the sneakers to the belly and from the belly and to the fingertips it's a whole different story, if he ofcourse has not learned advanced spine bending in joga. The upper body seems like it's drawn from the back and the lower - from the side.

you are right about his stomach, i should have contorted it more to fit the upper torso. it would have looked better. other than that i could have done something else with the shoulders. the perspective is a little weird there. his hips are turning left in motion with his kicking foot, and his torso is turning right in motion with his thrusting arm. i did not blend the two as i should have.

the stuff coming off the sneakers are bits of dirt, or water. i added them to emphasize the motion.

doesnt look like cardboard... *suspicious*

it reminds me of so many shel silverstein books i have, with the over-expressive lanky characters and gritty strokes. looks very good

it's the smooth side of the cardboard, and i changed the color. "over-expressive lanky characters and gritty strokes" that's like my favorite thing to draw, and see! cool. thank ya :D
